Feast of Sto. Kristo de Limpia starts tomorrow
CEBU - The solemnities of the annual feast of the Sto. Kristo de Limpia at the Basilica del Sto. Niño will be from Sept. 9 to 11, 2008. The rituals will be in the form of a “Triduo” with novena prayers and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on Thursday, Sept. 11, the feast day, and the culmination of the three-day religious event.
The Holy Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Rodolfo Bugna, OSA, rector with the well-known UV Chorale performing.
The devotion to the Sto. Kristo de Limpia started at the Basilica sometime in the early 1900s when the icon of the crucified Jesus was donated to the Augustinian fathers by Don Juan Rivera and Doña Andrea Rivera, parents of the late Inday Pining Gullas.
Crafted in Spain, it has been associated with miraculous happenings since the early years of its presence in that church. (THE FREEMAN)
