CEBU - Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña clarified that the closure order on “Let’s Morning the Night” resto-grill in barangay Kamagayan was never lifted and that the re-opening of the establishment last Wednesday was a defiance of the closure order.
“No it was not lifted. It will be closed for three months for operating without permit,” Osmeña said in a text message to The FREEMAN. The mayor said he will attend to the matter tomorrow.
Osmeña ordered the establishment closed last week after an anonymous letter sender complained of very loud noise coming from the resto-grill. The city later learned that it is operating without a permit.
However, despite the closure order, the establishment resumed operations last Wednesday.
Kamagayan barangay captain Celestino Avila confirmed that the resto-grill has reopened and that several residents surrounding it, including those from neighboring barangay Pari-an, have already complained about the loud noise coming from the establishment.
“Daghan na sad ang ni reklamo nako ngari nga ngano kuno na-ablihan na unya saba na sad,” Avila said.
Avila said he will meet with the resto-grill’s management today and require it to produce the necessary documents to support the re-opening, otherwise, he will let the city decide on the situation.
The 2,000 square meter resto-grill along D. Jakosalem Street has 24 stalls, which pays the management a monthly rental of P6,000 per stall. It also features live bands, which allegedly produce loud noise until the wee hours of the morning.
The FREEMAN tried to seek reaction from the “Let’s Morning the Night” assistant manager Julio Garcia and operator Rodrigo Cullarin but they were not available as of yesterday. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
