CEBU - A truck driver was killed while his four passengers were injured after their vehicle fell off a 30-meter cliff in barangay Lapay, Argao town last Friday afternoon.
Jose Sevillano, 27, a resident of Sitio Lalaan, Bulasa, Argao was reported dead on arrival at Isidro Quintanar Memorial Hospital due to internal hemorrhage as a result of the accident.
The four truck passengers Miguel Nasilla, 21; Walter Alcain, 22; Patrocinio Mansueto; and Nicomedes Mansueto only sustained minor injuries and were brought to the same hospital for treatment.
Police said the five victims are “truck boys” of Provincial Board Member Wilfredo Caminero who owns the ill-fated cargo truck.
Investigation revealed that the victims were from barangay Lapay Proper and were heading towards Argao town to deliver sacks of corn when the vehicle’s steering wheel got stuck and failed to function.
Sevillano allegedly tried but was not able to control the truck and fell off the cliff.
Police said the cargo truck is still at the place and its parts are gradually being cut off to be lifted from the ravine where it fell.
“Dako kaayo ang truck kay cargo truck man gud maong nagkinahanglan gyud og enough manpower.
