Fire razes 4 Lorega San Miguel houses

CEBU - At least four houses were consumed by fire early yesterday afternoon in barangay Lorega San Miguel but authorities were yet to determine its real cause as of last night.

Cebu City Fire Marshall Ismael Codilla said the fire started about 2 p.m. but was immediately controlled by responding firefighters within 10 minutes.

Initial investigation revealed that the fire started from the second floor of the house owned by a certain Gregg Cantos.

An explosion was reportedly heard from the room of Cantos’ daughter Evangeline who was at work when the incident happened.

While nobody was reported injured, the fire also hit neighboring houses owned by Cantos’ brothers Tomas, Arthur, and Gregg and that of a certain John Rosima. Damage was estimated at P420,000. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO
