Two killed in four stabbing incidents

-

Two persons were killed in four stabbing incidents - including a father who was killed by his own son - in Cebu City over the weekend.

Nicolas Alvez, 68, a resident of sitio Upper Kawayan in barangay Sambag Dos, sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by his own son Eduardo Alvez, 42.

According to the records at the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, Eduardo came home allegedly drunk past 5 p.m. last Saturday. He reportedly learned from his younger brother Albert that their wooden floor was destroyed by their father.

For that reason alone, Eduardo attacked his father and stabbed him several times.

The old man was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect fled after the incident.

The next day, a trisikad driver who had just cleared a conflict with a neighbor was stabbed by an unidentified man in sitio Mahayahay II, barangay Pasil.

Bernardito Leyson, 37, a resident of the place, was pronounced DOA at the Cebu City Medical Center past 8 p.m. last Sunday due to a wound in his back.

Leyson, according to the Homicide Section, had a talk with a certain Ellen Quirante outside her residence in order to clear things out over a conflict between Quirante’s husband and Leyson.

After the conversation and while he was on his way to his father’s house, an unidentified man sneaked from behind and stabbed Leyson.

Leyson was taken to the CCMC by a bystander named Michael Daclisan.

At around 7 p.m. last Sunday, a delivery boy of a liquefied petroleum gas company sustained a hack wound to his head after he was attacked by an unidentified man during the fiesta celebration of barangay Inayawan.

Jeger Pepino, 25, a resident of sitio Torre, barangay Inayawan was buying a stick of cigarette at a store on the roadside when an unidentified man attacked him from behind hitting his head with a bolo.

Although wounded, Pepino managed to run to his brother’s house in sitio Tugas. He was then rushed to the CCMC where he is recuperating right now.

In barangay Lorega-San Miguel, a company driver who surrendered for stabbing a father of a friend was turned over by barangay tanods to the Homicide Section.

Dennis Quiroga, 33, of 47-B Lorega-San Miguel surrendered to barangay tanods Mario Temblor, Victor Brigoli, and Wilfredo Caritan.

Quiroga admitted to stabbing Fernando Paller, 48, of sitio Riverside, barangay Hipodromo past 5 p.m. the other day.

According to Paller, he was in Lorega-San Miguel to visit his daughters Candy and Felicity Paller. But still talking with Candy, the suspect suddenly arrived and stabbed him in the right shoulder.

He managed to run away and was taken to the CCMC by a certain Juanito Reyes.

He said Quiroga was possibly irked that Candy confided to him the “dirty things the suspect did to Felicity earlier,” which Paller had not elaborated. — Ferliza C. Contratista/MEEV
