Program vs. wrongdoings of town officials launched

-

In his effort to promote transparency and good governance, Liloan Mayor Vincent “Duke” Frasco launched a program that would encourage citizens to report any wrongdoings by government employees or officials of the town.

Frasco said that all those who know of any anomalous transactions at any government office in the town, and have solid basis, could expect to have the municipal government on their side.

Dubbed as “Kung Makasakop, Makadangop,” the program is aimed at providing concerned citizens with a venue to air their complaints and even assist them in filing cases in court.

Frasco distributed to various barangays posters on the program during its formal launching.

Aside from putting up the posters in government buildings, there is also a plan to tap all schools in the town for the information campaign.

Meanwhile, Frasco also put up the “Duke Action Squad,” which aims at maintaining the peace and order of the town.

“The action squad will be helping to keep the peace and order in our growing municipality,” Frasco said.

In line with the project, four multicabs and four motorcycles were distributed, the first of two batches of distribution, to help barangays in their monitoring.

Those that received the multicabs are barangays Yati, Poblacion, Cotcot and Jubay while those that given motorcycles were barangays San Roque, Lataban, San Vicente and Sta. Cruz.

Ownership of the vehicles will remain with the Liloan municipal government, while the barangays will be responsible for their maintenance.

“The recognized need of these barangays for utility vehicles for efficient and effective governance could very well be answered,” the agreement on the vehicle utilization said. — Garry B. Lao/LPM
