The Cebu City Police Office homicide section said the body of 29-year-old Roberto “Boboy” Abendan, a resident of barangay Basak, was found lifeless and bloodied, with several stab wounds, at a grassy portion of a dried-up creek.
Abendan’s friend and co-hunter, Rolando Aligato, 31, a construction worker residing in barangay Quiot, also sustained several stab wounds to his body and has been in serious condition at the Cebu City Medical Center.

Aligato said he felt pain on his back and left shoulder and, knowing that he got stabbed, he ran off the place but left behind Abendan who he saw was repeatedly stabbed by the four attackers.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene two bolos, one was 19-inches long and the other 18 inches long, and two scabbards.
Chief Insp. Mario Monilar, head of the homicide police, however said that there were reports that Abendan and Aligato have been suspected of involvement in several theft cases in the area.
