Man charged for prostituting girl

A criminal complaint for violation of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law was filed against a man who allegedly induced a minor into prostitution.

Consolacion police chief Leoncio Baliguat filed the complaint for violation of section 4A in relation to section 6A of the Republic Act 9208 against Nemecio Cantago Lacio before the provincial prosecutor’s office.

Lacio was arrested in the evening of August 16 in Consolacion after the family of a 15-year-old victim (name withheld) sought the assistance of the police.

The victim’s sister asked for police assistance after learning that her younger sibling was induced into prostitution by the suspect who allegedly offered the victim to male customers.  The girl was rescued by the help of her sister’s boyfriend who posed as customer. The witness, whose name was also withheld to protect the identity of the victim, said that Lacio offered to him the victim for P700 in exchange for sexual pleasure.

However, as soon as the victim arrived police immediately rescued her while the suspect was placed under arrest. — Fred P. Languido/WAB
