NAPOLCOM boasts hi-tech innovations
The National Police Commission-7 director Bernardo Calibo said their office recently adopted modern innovations to become more efficient in regulating the law enforcers and its organization.
These include the Electronic Data System, E-Photo Gallery, Wi-fi Services, video conferencing and other state of the art programs.
Calibo said, with just one touch the Electronic Data System can provide records of cases faced by a certain policeman including its details like respondents, complainants and other parties.
“With just one touch, records are available not only in the region but also in the provincial offices,” Calibo said.
He said barely a year into its implementation, the system has already served its purpose.
The E-Photo Gallery, Calibo said, bears all the photos of the policemen without the names.
It was created when they launched the Oplan Bilang following allegations that the statistics presented by the PNP differ from the actual personnel in the different units.
He cited an instance in which a man was allegedly shot by a policeman. NAPOLCOM personnel visited him at his hospital bed and made him browse through photographs of all the policemen in the region.
He was eventually able to identify the culprit.
Almost everyday, Calibo said, he can have a video conference with all NAPOLCOM provincial officers, saving them the cost of having to come over to convene. He can also keep track of whether his personnel in the provinces come home early or are not present for the day.
The entire NAPOLCOM building is also enjoying wi-fi services, which he said is another cost-saving strategy by giving Internet access to wi-fi ready computers and laptops rather than subscribing only for one limited account.
