Militants want LTO official to resign

-

Militant groups are asking for the immediate resignation of an official of the regional office of the Land Transportation Office for his alleged involvement in some irregularities.

Arman Perez, secretary general of Bayan Muna, and Ruben Rama, the secretary general of Nagkahiusang Drayber sa Sugbo (NADSU), demanded for the resignation of LTO-7 legal counsel Vicente Gador Jr., claiming they have found a concrete evidence for the alleged anomaly and dishonesty in governance against the LTO official.

The two organizations called Gador as an “embarrassment and a big shame to the agency.”

Earlier, drivers and operators charged Gador with theft, bribery, dishonesty, and grave misconduct, usurpation of authority, and graft and corruption practices.

Bayan Muna and NADSU are also supporting the civilians who were allegedly harassed by Gador.

Last August 7, Bayan wrote a letter to LTO Assistant Secretary Alberto Suansing through Raul Aguilos, the regional director of LTO-7, as support to the civilians who recently raised complaints against Gador.

Suansing’s response to Bayan’s request for Gador’s immediate relief is expected to be out as soon as possible.

Bayan claimed it has obtained a copy of the documents on the alleged corruptions and malpractices of Gador.

One document stated that Gador allegedly took a revoked driver’s license, without lawful authority and returned it to the driver in exchange for P5,000 bribe. After three or four months, the driver was seen running a mini-bus again.

The driver, Elesio Refuela, was arrested for reckless imprudence last August 31, 2007 after he figured on a collision against a bus driven by Cecilio Young, resulting to injuries on the bus driver and endangering the life of his passengers.  Cressida Paula G. Delmo/WAB
