Mayor Tomas Osmeña said the new initiative will only require aerosol eraser paints to get rid of the unwanted writings or signs on the walls.

“So when there’s writing on the wall and you want to erase it, all you have to do is to spray it and it’s gone. You don’t have to repaint the walls,” the mayor explained.
He emphasized that the city government will go on the offensive in fighting the problem on vandalism.
When asked if he had plans to punishing vandals who indiscriminately put writings and any signs on the walls, the mayor said, “the real punishment is after they put the writings, we can erase it immediately. They want to write it again, and we will erase it again. Until they get tired”.
Osmeña said he will also be encouraging other companies to purchase such paint to help in getting rid of the unwanted writings on the walls. He said he does not mind if he will be accused promoting the paint company.
“People are already sick and tired of graffiti which is all over the city. With this new initiative, we will have a more beautiful city,” the mayor added. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/WAB
