In celebration of the 439th Founding Anniversary of the province of Cebu, there will be no classes and work in the entire Cebu today.
Capitol's media affairs consultant Sam Costanilla announced during the 888 News Forum yesterday that August 6 was declared special non-working holiday by virtue of Republic Act 8952.
The holiday would also be observed in the highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the component cities of Talisay, Danao and Toledo.
August 6 every year is declared special non-working holiday through the enactment of Republic Act 8952 on July 26, 1999, or the amended Republic Act 7698, the original Charter of the Cebu province.
In line with this celebration, the Capitol has prepared week-long activities that started last Monday and will culminate on Friday with the Governor’s Ball and Garbo sa Sugbu awards in which numerous individuals and institutions would be recognized for the honor and contribution that they have made for Cebu.
