“One Cebu” gets nod from municipal execs

-

Municipal officials yesterday expressed support to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s Obra Negosyo Expo and Countryside Enterprise and Business Upliftment or “ONE CEBU,” which will be launched on August 8 at the Cebu International Convention Center.

In a meeting with the governor at the Capitol yesterday, all representatives from the 52 towns and cities confirmed their cooperation as well as their participation in the said event.

Prior the meeting, Garcia reported that as of last count, more than 20 municipalities have signed up to participate in the exhibit, out of the 52 towns and cities under the Cebu province, including Lapu-Lapu City.

“We want ONE CEBU to be participated by our LGUs aside from the other industries,” the governor said.

“Akong hangyo nga mo-apil mong tanan... this is the chance, once again, to show the products that your town has,” she added.

Enrison Benedicto, in-charge of the ONE CEBU, said the program was formed because of the clamor of different industries.

“This has been a clamor, this has also been a hope, this has also been a dream for business sector wherein we would have one big show that can be as international as possible...that can be spread worldwide,” Benedicto said.

The goal of ONE CEBU, according to Garcia, is to become an international expo event partnered by both the private and public sectors.

The governor also aspires to make ONE CEBU a regular yearly international event after its launching.

“We are also looking forward for the creation of an office where we would have both public and private sector partnership,” Garcia said.

The expo, which will be launched on August 8 in time for the Cebu Province’s 439th founding anniversary, will showcase Cebu’s finest from furniture products, fashion accessories and house wares. — Joy Kareen T. Saliente/WAB
