Housemaid’s body found in Lapu-Lapu firing range’s dump

-

The body of a 27-year-old housemaid of a physician was found at the dump of the Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association firing range in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

The housemaid, identified as Cerila Herda Campillo who was from San Francisco in Camotes Island, had injuries in various parts of her body. Residents near the area discovered the body and responding personnel of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation confirmed she was already dead.

The dump, where her body was found, was about 30 feet below the top level of the backyard fence of the house of the housemaid’s employer, named by the police as Dr. Socorro Bandong of Fabro Hills Subdivision in that barangay.

The police had already invited Bandong to shed light on the circumstances before the discovery of Campillo’s body.

There were reports that Campillo had committed suicide by jumping off the fence but investigators subjected her body to an autopsy to determine if there was foul play resulting in her death.

Campillo was last seen preparing dinner for the Bandong family. Her sister, Adelisa, told the police that she met her the other day but did not mention any personal problem whatsoever.

The police are still looking for possible witnesses of the incident. — Jose P. Sollano/RAE
