3 hurt in separate stabbing incidents

Three men landed in the hospital after they were stabbed in separate occasions in the city last Saturday.

Samuel Pasuelo Jr., a stay-in construction foreman of an ongoing building project at the Rama Compound in sitio Lomboy, Banawa, barangay Guadalupe, was stabbed the other dawn by one of his workers identified only as Jun-jun.

According to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the two had a verbal argument in relation to their work in the construction site. But the suspect reportedly took a stainless knife and stabbed the victim several times.

The victim who suffered several stab wounds on his body was rushed to the Cebu Doctors Hospital, while the suspect fled the area.

Five hours earlier, a man who attempted to pacify a trouble between his group and the other group got stabbed instead in his stomach and was struck with a bottle of liquor in the head inside a videoke bar in T. Padilla Street of barangay T. Padilla.

Police said the victim, Marlon Torno, 35, of sitio Kadasig in barangay Tisa was with his friends Francis Luna, 34, a college teacher; James Mongolin, 25, a college student; and a 17-year-old boy. They were reportedly having a drink inside a small videoke bar in the area when the suspects approached them.

Witnesses identified the suspects as Ivan Rosaroso and Climaco Ursal, both residents in the area, who reportedly approached Luna. Without provocation, Rosaroso allegedly intentionally bumped him.

Luna, sensing that something is wrong, immediately paid their bills and decided to leave the area, but while they were about to board a taxicab the suspect followed them and moved to stab him.

But Torno blocked Rosaroso and tried to settle the problem. Instead of heeding him, the suspect stabbed Torno twice, hitting him in the right forearm, while Ursal struck his head with a bottle of liquor.

The others scampered for safety and later on reported the incident to the police. Torno was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center. The suspects immediately left the area after the incident.

In another stabbing incident last Saturday, a 22-year-old stay-in welder was stabbed in the face with a screwdriver by a man he considered as an “old-time enemy”.

The incident took place while the victim was walking along Andres Soriano Street in the North Reclamation Area.

Police identified the victim as Eduard Bayking, 22, a resident of the place. He landed at the CCMC due to a stab wound near his left eye.

Responding Mobile Patrol Group led by PO3 Roy Jaime arrested the suspect, identified by the victim as Victor Suan, while trying to escape through J. de Verra Street of the NRA.

According to SPO4 Alex Dacua, Bayking was walking to fetch water when the suspect, who has been harboring a grudge against him, stabbed him several times, but only hit him near the left eye.

The suspect is now detained at the CCPO waiting for appropriate charges to be filed against him. —Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
