Durano gives scholarship grants to 20 tourism studes
Tourism Secretary Ace Durano has awarded scholarships grants to 20 freshmen students of Hotel and Restaurant Services course in
Durano also awarded the certificate of entitlement to BCPD as being part of the Turismo Mismo program or GREET of DOT.
The school said that the scholars are all female, between 17 and 23 years old, who were deemed financially unable to go study in college. Each will take up HRS course at the BCPD for a 2-year full scholarship, under the Grassroots Entrepreneurship and Employment Tourism (GREET) program of the Department of Tourism.
The scholars are Lynn V. Baya, Cendy B. Kho, Joannalou T. Mullet, Jasmen J. Orozco, Lalaine P. Escalante, Fatima A. Rivera, Leziel B. Cuares, Fatima N. Adlao, Noemi S. Entrolizo, and Maria Sheila D. Khan.
The other ten are Gay Marie V. Cinco, Rita L. Nellas, Jenny Mae A. Delfinado, Dia Charisse N. Adique, Jerasol M. Saban, Sheryl Mae V. Gonzaga, Nerissa Entrolizo, Venus N. Gitgano, Claire T. Arrogancia, and Irish Jean T. Estillore.
Besides these 20 scholars, there are still five more students on the waitlist of GREET.
GREET is a project that has been designed to enhance livelihood opportunities among micro-entrepreneurs in the tourism industry while advocating environmentally sustainable and socially equitable practices in local communities, particularly in eco-tourism sites.
