Barangay Sinsin residents voice concern

-

With the onset of the rainy season, residents of barangay Sinsin whose houses were identified as within the danger zone expressed concern on their security of living.

Sinsin barangay captain Ramon Ylaya Jr. yesterday said the residents, who are now temporarily sheltered at the Sudlon I barangay complex, are constantly making a follow-up with the barangay about the relocation site the city government has promised them.

“Hinay kaayo ang pag-process sa city. Ila unta’ng dalion aron ang mga tawo dili na maglibog sa ilahang seguridad,” Ylaya told The FREEMAN.

Last week, the City Council approved the resolution of Councilor Gerardo Carillo seeking for the allocation of at least P900,000 for the purchase of lot in sitio Udlom Lower.

But after that, Ylaya said they have not received any update on the plan to purchase the lot for relocation site.

The 18,998-square-meter lot, which is owned by the heirs of Isaias Cansancio, is being sold to the city at P50 per square meter.

Ylaya said the lot is enough to accommodate the 63 families that are living in sitios Nangka and Sangi that were earlier identified by the Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau as within the danger zone.

Because of the uncertainty of their situation and the alleged lack of food, most of the 20 families that were earlier evacuated at the sports complex have returned to their homes despite the threat of landslide.

But last week, Ylaya said the residents moved back to the evacuation center because of the rains brought about by Typhoon Frank.

Although some of the houses are far from the area that was earlier hit by landslide, he said they instructed the residents to go back to the evacuation center during rains, especially at night.

“Dili man nato sila mapugos nga magpabilin sa evacuation center. Ato na sila gihatagan og plywood ug uban pang materials para makatukod sila og balay. Yuta na lang ang problema,” Ylaya said. — Wenna A. Berondo/LPM
