A couple lost two mobile phones worth P31,000 allegedly to a househelp yesterday.
Police identified the victims as Jose Almendras Ong Oh III, 48 years old and his wife Arlene Baldo Ong Oh, 49, residents of 55-C Rahman Street, barangay Camputhaw; while the suspect was known only as a certain Jocelyn described to be of medium build, dark-skinned and with curly hair, and is already in her late 30s or early 40s.
The couple, who personally reported the incident to the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, alleged that the suspect introduced herself as Jocelyn, a resident of barangay Mambaling.
The victims further disclosed that the suspect pretended to be looking for a job as a house helper. The victims accepted her and showed her around the house directing her on what daily household chores to do.
Initial investigation revealed that the couple was already in their bedroom when the incident happened - Jose was fast asleep while Arlene was placing a call leaving her bag downstairs containing a Nokia N70 cellphone worth P21,000 and a Samsung cellphone worth P10,000.
But when Arlene went down to get her bag, she found out that it was already gone. She suspected that Jocelyn could have stolen the said valuable items as she was also nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, a man lost a wristwatch, a cellphone, and a wedding ring to an unknown burglar last Monday in Horseshoe Drive, Banawa, barangay Guadalupe.
