Pagasa expects more rains during opening of classes

-

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) yesterday announced that rains are expected during the opening of classes.

This is due to the early onset of the rainy season that started on the earlier part of May, and has been associated with the southwest monsoon (habagat), said Engr. Oscar Tabada, regional director of Pagasa.

“Naa tay ini-init na mga adlaw pero daghan tag adlaw na may ulan,” he said adding that the wet season will hit is highest level by July and August, and predicted to last until the end of September.

Tabada said the country this year will have more tropical storms, associated with heavy rainfall and strong winds.

In the coming week, the entire country will experienced partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening due to typhoon “Enteng” already spotted at the east of northern Luzon, and is forecast to move north northwest.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southeast and southwest over the rest of the country. The coastal waters of the country will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms. — Rizzi Ann C. Cerera, UP-Tacloban CommArts intern/RAE
