Son sues father for grave threat

A 14-year-old boy has filed criminal charges against his own father who allegedly threatened to kill him with a knife while the accused was drunk last week.

The boy has executed a two-page affidavit to support the filing of grave threat charges against Armando Perez Demancho, 49, of sitio Panaghiusa, barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Anselita Demancho, the mother of the boy, said at about 8:30 p.m. on May 14, she asked her son to look for his younger brother outside their house so they could have their dinner.

While looking for his brother, the boy said he met his father who was apparently drunk.

The complainant recalled that his father then shouted at him: “Wala kay kaon kay tapolan ka, og patyon taka… patyon ta kang bulhoga ka!” and then pulled out a knife from his waist in an effort to stab him.

Due to fear, the boy hurriedly fled but his father chased him while continue shouting “patyon taka!”

It was Anselita who sought the help of barangay tanods to arrest her husband, who was then brought to Mambaling Police Station.

At the Mambaling Police Station, the accused again threatened the boy by saying, “patyon ta mong tanan kay inyo ko nga gipapriso.”

The prosecutor said that the evidence presented cannot support for the indictment of Demancho for violating the Child Abuse Act under Republic Act 7610, but added that the accused can only be sued for grave threat. — Rene U. Borromeo/LPM
