2 swindling suspects arrested

-

Two female suspected swindlers from Mindanao were arrested for allegedly selling fake jewelry to a woman in barangay Catarman, Liloan Saturday.

Liloan policeman, SPO1 Dennis Malinao, identified the suspects as Jennylyn Masong, 32, of Lopez Jaena, Davao del Sur, and Lolita Monares of Carmen Ilaya, Cagayan de Oro City.

Seized from their possession were a fake necklace with pendant and two rings with stone.

Malinao said it was Jose Maturan Jr. who first arrested the two and brought them to the police station.

Jose accused the two of swindling his mother Erlinda of P20,000 cash last March 8 when she bought from them a necklace with pendant that later turned out to be fake.

When the two suspects returned to Maturan’s house that Saturday, Jose arrested them.

They are now detained at the Liloan Police Station.

Meanwhile in Toledo City that same Saturday, a church worker found a newborn but live male infant left inside the Mt. Carmel chapel in barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City at 5:30pm Saturday.

Reynaldo Patatag, a 42-year-old sacristan, immediately called up the police, which in turn referred the case to the Department of Social Welfare and Department for custody of the child. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
