UV Chorale declines Manila concert for Cebu cause
For a humbler cause, the University of the Visayas Chorale declined to perform in a

“It will be out humble tribute to the Patroness of Oslob, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, whose church was one of the oldest churches in the country,” Gullas said.
He said, the UV Chorale’s “Bulawanong Dalit Alang sa Oslob” is of paramount importance to Cebuanos.
“Our parents, Mama Pining and Papa Inting will be very happy of our efforts of help and assistance,” Gullas said.

The UV Chorale will also include in their performance, the composition of the late Dodong Maningo, “Luyo sa Dag-um” which was one of the songs recognized during the “Kinaiyang Sugbuanon” held last March at the Cebu International Convention Center.
For several years, Cebuanos have not heard that song. In fact Gullas said he was so excited when he heard it played by the Firelights Band in one occasion and he asked for it to be played again.
Gullas was delighted when the widow of Maningo, Irenea, and the members of the family, gave their permission to include the song among those featured in the “Kinaiyang Sugbuanon”.
On the other hand, Gullas said as chairman and founder of “Ang Tipiganan sa mga Handumanan sa Kanta ug Kinaiyang Sugbuanon Foundation Inc.” welcomes any form of preserved Cebuano memorabilia be it in the type of a song, paintings, music, artistic pieces or relics, cultural objects and souvenirs.
