4 cops, bank manager commended

-

Four policemen of Carcar City, led by SPO1 Meliton Agadier Jr, and the bank manager himself were yesterday conferred awards and commendations from government officials for their success in foiling a bank robbery in that city last April 28.

In the awarding ceremony at the Capitol Social Hall, Agadier received the Governor’s Citation plaque from Governor Gwen Garcia, the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council.

“We celebrate duty, and because duty has been answered, we celebrate honor,” Garcia said in congratulating Agadier for his courage and for bringing back public confidence in the police force. “Public confidence has been regained. High morale kaayo ang mga pulis karon.” she said.

Agadier in his speech after receiving the award said, “Mapasalamaton kaayo mi sa suportang gipakita ni Gob. Amo sang nabati nga ang among binuhatan, na-appreaciate sad.”

Also conferred with plaques of commendations were SPO1 Kenneth Abella, PO3 Irving Avila, PO3 Rolando Gantuangco, and Rural Bank of Cebu manager Webster Morales. Each of the five awardees also received P10,000 cash.

The Police Regional Office-7 then conferred the Medalya ng Kagalingan to each of the four policemen. PRO-7 director Ronald Roderos also recommended for their special promotion of ranks.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Carmelo Valmoria, during the awards ceremony, recalled the feat of the awardees: “This is a classic example of how the members of the Carcar Police, with the timely information of the bank manager, resulted in the death of a robber and the capture of the other one.”   — Mitchelle L.
