Police sketch of broker’s assailant out
An artist’s sketch of the man who allegedly shot a customs broker was released by Cebu City Police Office yesterday.
Witnesses already went to the Homicide Section and described to the police the man who allegedly shot and wounded Leonardo Abay-abay near his office in the North Reclamation Area last Wednesday morning.
The assailant was said to be around 20 years old and between 5’2” to 5’3” tall, with a regular build, fair complexion and armed with a .38 cal. revolver.
Abay-abay is the owner of LRA Customs Brokerage and a resident of Garden Ridge, barangay Cabangcalan,
Police said the victim was checking on the construction of his new office in the same building where his office is located when the assailant approached him from behind and shot him once in the back.
The assailant immediately ran to a waiting motorcycle driven by another man and both of them fled.
City police chief Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador said based on the manner the victim was shot, the assailant may be “new to the job”.
“There was no follow through, the gun is not a high caliber enough to finish the job,” Comendador said.
Comendador said they already have his name but are withholding it for now.
Police initially suspected the shooting might be connected to the victim’s business activities.
“The motive and the identity of the suspect is closely related kay kung atong isulti ang motive makabantay na gyud ang mga perpetrators,” Comendador added. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
