Town fiesta activities got marred with violence when a 27-year-old tanod was stabbed and shot dead by two men at barangay Looc in San Remigio Tuesday.
The victim, Eliazar Jimenez, sustained multiple stab wounds and gunshot wounds in his body right inside a basketball court after the coronation event of the town beauty queen for the festivities.
San Remigio policeman, PO3 Joe Johnnesky, said the suspected assailants were identified as Tirso Mandado and Juntie Calapuan.
Investigators said that Mandado first approached then stabbed Jimenez. When the victim fell, Calapuan allegedly fired shots at the former. Dihang natumba ang biktima, ang kauban ni Mandado nga si Juntie maoy mipusil ni Eliazar,” the police report said.
The two suspects were however able to escape from the police, who were able to recover the gun used in the killing. The police said that personal grudge has been initially looked into as the possible motive in the killing. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
