Social service caravan held in Carcar

Around two thousand individuals benefited from the social service caravan sponsored by the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas in Carcar City yesterday.

Different government agencies and the Carcar City government also joined the caravan, which included medical and dental services, legal assistance and many others.

During the event, the National Food Authority distributed 200 bags of NFA rice while the Department of Agriculture also dispersed 600 bags of fruit seedlings and 200 packs of vegetable seeds to the residents.

The National Statistics Office also attended to close to 60 applications for birth certificates and other legal papers.

The academe was also present during the caravan as the staff of the Cebu State College of Science and Technology made a series of lectures on agricultural and industrial trainings.

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board regional director Romulo Bernaldez said aside from complaints and queries, they also received suggestions on how to smoothen the operations at the agency.

According to Philippine Information Agency-7 information officer Ricardo Cabardo, the caravan was the first after the signing by the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas and the national government of the covenant establishing such undertaking.

A conference was also conducted at the Carcar City Hall attended by over 70 officials from the city and neighboring towns.
