2 of 4 in mall rob identified
Authorities have already identified two of four men who held up a moneychanger inside a mall Friday night and took off with money amounting to over P400,000.
Cebu City Police Office deputy director Paul Labra II announced this in yesterday’s press conference saying that the two were identified through a security camera inside the mall.
One of the two is Roy Fernandez, allegedly a member of a robbery group from Laguna, who was also pointed out by a witness as the one who took the money bag containing close to P500,000 in various currencies. The other one was identified as Albert Almedilla, a man from
The police still believed that the robbers are still in
Fernandez has an existing warrant of arrest for a case of illegal possession of firearms in 2006 when he was still in
Superintendent Michael Bastes, head of the TRS, also confirmed to reporters that the Cherubin Security Agency with whom the mall guards belong have offered a P100,000 cash reward to anybody who could provide information on the robbers’ whereabouts.
Labra said the investigations have also considered looking into a possible “inside job” considering the lax security at the time that allowed the robbers to enter the mall, despite carrying guns with them, and staged the robbery successfully.
Since then, policemen have been ordered by Labra to intensify the monitoring system against robbery groups, and instructed Sr. Insp. George Ylanan to enforce the search warrants against the suspects.
Labra further recommended to the city government the granting of a reward in exchange for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects. — Queenie Chariz Dayanan and Princess Mondejar (CNU-interns), and Trex Eden Ignacio (UP-intern)/RAE
