‘Taxi-napper’ falls in citizen’s arrest

-

A taxi driver who allegedly failed to return the cab he rented —which is already believed stolen— was arrested last Saturday night in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City.

Arthur Boles, 45, was arrested via citizen’s arrest by Ramil Judilla, 39, a resident of Cabantan Street, barangay Luz, and the owner of the reported carnapped Toyota Corolla.

Judilla took matters into his own hands and arrested Boles, who happens to be his neighbor, after the cabbie allegedly failed to return his car he rented.

It was learned that Judilla went to the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office last April 22 and reported that Boles was not able to return his car for almost a week already.  Judilla then requested the Mobile Patrol Group to monitor Boles and to consequently retrieve his car.

TRS investigator, SPO2 Ulysses Ragaza revealed during an interview with The FREEMAN that the suspect had, on several occasions, victimized taxicab operators by pretending to rent their units and not returning them.

“Modus na ni sa suspetsado ang pag-abang sa taxi, dayon dili na iuli. Daghang nalipay nga nadakpan na siya,” Ragaza added.

Judilla will file charges for carnapping tomorrow against Boles.

The suspect, who is also suspected of using illegal drugs, declined to issue any statement to reporters.  Princess Mondejar/MEEV
