According to the investigation conducted by PO2 Welther Grapa, the victim identified as Bernard Maupo, 22, resident of barangay Poblacion, was seen drinking with a friend, a certain “Tiatoy” in front of a public school.
After that, the two were said to have transferred near the municipal hall, at an area where Boreros parked his vehicle. Having a drink too many, Boreros allegedly kicked Maupo several times, then pulled out a handgun from his waist and poked it at the victim’s head.
Abruptly, Boreros left the area while the victim decided to report the incident to the Santander Police Station, saying he is determined to file criminal and administrative charges against the alleged abusive cop.
“Actually, kauban man ni sila sa inom. Bikil siguro ni kay sigun sa biktima, gisipa og dayon giti-onan og armas,” Grapa said during an interview.
“Mokiha man kuno to’ng biktima, pero wala pa man mobalik,” Grapa added.
Police believe that Boreros and the victim have a personal grudge and that whatever ill feelings they have for each other was brought out during the incident, most especially that the two were already under the influence of alcohol. — Princess Mondejar, CNU intern/MEEV
