75-year-old faces rape charges
A 75-year-old man in barangay Macaas, Catmon town, was charged with rape for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old neighbor.

There was no bail recommended for Perez’ temporary liberty. He is now detained at the Catmon police station.
SPO3 Romulo Torralba of the Catmon Police said the suspect first went into hiding after learning that the family of the victim reported the incident to the police and that he was positively identified as the suspect.
Torralba said that the case stemmed from a complaint of his neighbor who at that time was still 13. The girl recently turned 14.
Medical examinations revealed that the victim was raped. The suspect, however, declined to issue any statement on the allegations hurled against him. — Garry B. Lao/MEEV
