2 police trainees face probe for “inaction”

-

Cebu City Police Office officials confirmed that an investigation has been conducted against two policemen, undergoing field training, for their alleged failure to respond to a shooting incident yesterday dawn at the downtown area where they were detailed at the time.

CCPO deputy chief for administration, Supt. Pablo Labra II, said the two policemen are PO1s Jayson Sarsada and Quedeng Rosario.

The shooting incident happened at about 4am yesterday at the corner of Colon and Pelaez Streets where a group of youngsters attacked 30-year-old construction worker Joselito Laurente.

Laurente was walking in the area with his friend, known only as “Bobby,” when the unidentified group blocked their way. One of the youngsters suddenly shouted “snatcher” and this prompted Laurente and Bobby to run away from the place.

The youngsters gave chase, one of them caught up with Laurente and struck the latter with a hard object in the head. The assailant then stabbed Laurente in his right arm and, as Laurente fell, another youngster came and shot the victim in the abdomen, the bullet exiting the back of the victim.   — Princess Mondejar, RAE
