Man arrested for rape of daughter

-

A 48-year-old father was arrested for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter inside their house in barangay Mabini, Poro town in Camotes Island Sunday.

Poro policeman, PO1 Patrick Mangubat, said the suspect, Ruben Sotto, was reportedly drunk when he raped his daughter who was at the time sleeping inside their unlighted house.

Investigations revealed that the victim was awakened when she felt someone was already on top of her. Her mother and brother were not in the house, so she fought back to stop the sexual attack by the man whose face was covered with a t-shirt.

During her struggle, she was able to take the shirt off the attacker’s face and was surprised to find out that it was her own father after all.

“Nakignilayogay man ang biktima hinungdan nga natangtang ang gitaptap sa nawong sa suspect. Pagtangtang, diha niya na-klaro nga ang iyang amahan maoy molugos kaniya,” Mangubat restated the victim’s story.

Sotto was able to remove the clothes and underwear of his daughter, and fulfill his lust. “Nakiglinayugay unta siya sa iyang amahan apan gilupig siya sa kusog,” the police said.

Sotto’s assault was stopped only when his daughter outwitted him by asking that she would be allowed to urinate first. He acceded but the victim  took this opportunity to run outside the house and to her mother.

She told her mother about the rape, then both immediately went to the police for help. The police in turn responded and went to the house where they found Sotto already asleep.

They arrested Sotto and detained him at the police station while charges are being prepared for filing against him. The victim is set to undergo a medical examination. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
