Recruitment agencies can now pay workers fees for the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration directly to banks through the Internet. POEA administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said they had already implemented an electronic payment system in order to reduce long queues as well as hasten payment processing of Overseas Filipino Workers.
The pilot testing for the new E-payment was scheduled last January and had been so far running smoothly.
Baldoz said, under the new payment scheme, recruitment and manning agencies can pay the processing fees through the Internet via partner banks.
Apart from paying the processing fees, Baldoz said payments for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration membership fee and premium contribution to the Philippine Health Insurance Company of the hired OFWs can also be paid in the same manner where there is Internet available.
The partner banks include Development Bank of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines.— Ferliza C. Contratista/MEEV
