-

Alleged gang members who were having a drinking session along the road in Jashville-1 Subdivision, barangay Pardo shot the son of a police official at around 11:00 the other night.

The victim was identified as Joseph Ibones, 29, an employee of the Insular Life Assurance Company and a resident of Aznar Road, barangay Pardo.

Ibones happened to be the son of Sr. Insp. Ambrosio Ibones, chief of the Security Service Group of the Cebu City Police Office.

In the initial investigation of the Homicide Section of the CCPO, the suspect was identified as a certain Berly, 19, and a resident of Ramona Village, Talisay City.

The suspect was hanging out for the birthday celebration of one of the alleged members of the unnamed gang.

Having too many drink, the boys started to throw eggs at cars passing by the area where they were hanging out.

According to the police, the victim who was onboard his motorcycle admonished the suspect and his group for the noise they were creating in the area.

Aside from the annoying noise they were making, Ibones reprimanded them for throwing eggs at passing cars.

As Ibones was about to leave them, the suspect pulled out a handgun of unidentified caliber and shot the victim in the back.

A certain Leonard Labay, a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver, who witnessed the incident immediately rushed Ibones to the Cebu City Medical Center and then informed the police of the incident.

Insp. Mario Monilar, chief of the CCPO Homicide Section, said they are now tracking down the suspect.

According to the attending physician, the victim is still under observation after undergoing an operation. — Queenie Chariz Dayanan, CNU intern/MEEV
