Nomination open for outstanding  judges search

Do you know of any court judge who is fit to be rewarded for his/her dedication to his/her duties and for being impartial of his/her rulings despite the fact that in some instances there are cases assigned to him/her that involve people close to him/her?

The Supreme Court, through the Society for Judicial Excellence, has encouraged the public to participate in the Search for Outstanding Court Judges nationwide by nominating them and properly explaining the reasons for the nomination.

The society, an organization composed exclusively of all Judicial Excellence Awardees from 1991 to 2007 and chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Bernardo Pardo, informs the public that the search is for the judges in all court categories.

Those interested to join the project are advised to send nominees for the different awards with their corresponding resumés and the reasons for the nomination on or before May 2.

In Cebu and in other parts of Central Visayas, they can nominate for the Regional Trial Court, Metropolitan Trial Court/Municipal Trial Court in Cities/Municipal Circuit Trial Court, and for Branch Clerks of Court for the first and second level courts categories.

Pardo said all nominations should be addressed to the Secretariat of the Society for Judicial Excellence, 3rd Floor, Old Session Hall Extension Room, Supreme Court Old Building, Padre Faura Street, Manila.

The public may also send nominees through telefax at (02) 523-1301 or to call 0918-9307585, and if possible through e-mail at [email protected]. 

In choosing the awardees, the board of judges will take into consideration integrity and moral character as public servants and private citizens, those who have demonstrated competence, efficiency, effectiveness, independence, judicial decorum, and knowledge of law.

Pardo said the awarding ceremonies will be held on September 19 at the Supreme Court to be attended by Chief Justice Reynato Puno. — Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV
