Motorcycle-for-hire driver shot to death
A still unidentified man armed with a .45 caliber handgun shot dead a 28-year-old habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver in sitio Looc, barangay Saavedra, Moalboal town the other night.
SPO3 Teofilo Amodia, Jr. said the victim was identified as Romeo Grabantes who suffered multiple, fatal bullet wounds on the different parts of his body.
Initial investigation disclosed that Grabantes was driving his way home with common-law wife Jannifie Recarte when he noticed that the key of his motorcycle was missing.
“Dihang hapit na sila moabot sa ilang pinuy-anan, namatikdan sa biktima nga wala diha ang yawe sa motor hinungdan nga mihunong siya og kadali unya iyang gipahulat ang iyang live-in partner aron pangita-on niya’g balik ang yawe nga gituhoan niining nahulog sa dalan,” Amodia said.
Few minutes later, Recarte heard seven gunshots. She was later informed that Grabantes was gunned down.
Further investigation revealed that the victim has a pending case for illegal drugs, but was temporarily released after posting bail. — Garry B. Lao/MEEV
