Ex-town police chief back as its city chief
Two years after his controversial relief as chief of police in the then
Siclot was relieved from the Carcar police station last Dec. 12, 2006 upon the recommendation of then municipal mayor and now City Mayor Patrick Barcenas after he was accused of being drunk during the town fiesta.
But just recently Barcenas was made to choose from among the second of list of nominees submitted to him by the PNP Regional Headquarters and he selected Siclot to be the chief of police in the city.
“Actually nakurat nalang ko nga ako ang napili sa mayor nga maoy mahimong chief of police sa Carcar,” Siclot told reporters after his closed-door meeting with Cebu Provincial Police Director Sr. Supt. Carmelo Valmoria yesterday.
Siclot is currently the head of the Provincial Intelligence and Management Division and will be taking the post this April 1.
Siclot was relieved after he was reportedly drunk during the fiesta, leaving the mayor to man traffic because no one was left at the police station.
But Siclot has denied this and instead accused one member of the then town council of spreading rumors against him so he will be kicked out of the post.
Siclot claimed that the councilor, whom he refused to name, bore a grudge against him after the councilor asked him and his men to release a person who was arrested for creating trouble. He said this was not possible because there was a complainant who wanted to pursue a case against the detainee.
With his new position, Valmoria directed Siclot to concentrate more on the operations of illegal drugs and the series of shooting incidents in the city.
Siclot has already requested Valmoria to assign him at least two police officers with the rank of Inspector so that somebody can assist him in handling the operations of the city.
He also said that he will require another police officer who has background in law who will be tasked to handle investigations.
Valmoria is already considering the request of Siclot and he said he has the high hopes for the police official. — Garry B. Lao/BRP
