Man killed for refusing a drink
For his alleged refusal of a glass of liquor, a man got beaten up then shot dead by three men who were having a drink near a store at sitio Bayong in barangay
Police identified the victim as Christobelle Avenido, a 30-year-old resident of the place. The suspects, who eluded arrest, were later identified as 23-year-old Marlon Osorno, Joseph Padin, and a certain Gesto who are also residents in the area.
The suspects were reportedly members of the Crips gang. The police however debunked claims that the killing was related to gang rivalries, saying instead that it had something to do with grudge between Osorno and the victim.
Homicide investigator SPO1 Rogelio Nedamo said that Avenido was on his way to the store when the suspects, who were drinking near it, offered him a drink. He turned the offer down and this angered them.
Police investigation accounts stated that Padin kicked and punched Avenido before Gesto picked an empty bottle of liquor and struck it to the victim. Osorno then pulled out a handgun and shot Avenido several times in the body.
