Deadline set for CSC awards nominations

-

Model public servants have until this Monday to be nominated for the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees of the Civil Service Commission.

In a press statement, CSC acting chairman Cesar Buenaflor said the deadline for submission of entries of exceptional public servants is on March 31.

The search, Buenaflor said, aims to motivate government employees to perform beyond expectation and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability and integrity.

The search includes nominees for Lingkod Bayan Award, Pag-asa Award and Dangal ng Bayan Award.

Buenaflor said awardees for Lingkod Bayan are those public officials and employees or group of individuals that made extraordinary performance that had nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.

The Pag-asa Award, on the other hand, is conferred to individuals or group that made contributions directly benefiting more than one department of the government.

An individual who performs an extraordinary act or public service following the eight norms of behavior provided under Republic Act No. 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, will be conferred with the Dangal ng Bayan Award.

These eight norms of behavior include commitment to public interest, professionalism, justness and sincerity, political neutrality, responsiveness to the public, nationalism and patriotism, commitment to democracy and simple living.

Nominees to any of the three awards, Buenaflor said, must be in the government service at the time of nomination and have not been found guilty of any case, or have no pending administrative or criminal case at the time.

Posthumous nominations are also accepted. — Ferliza C. Contratista/LPM
