IBP hails police for arrest of suspects in student’s killing
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu City Chapter commends the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office for the immediate arrest of the suspects in the killing of student Ruby Jade Ruba.
Ruba, a graduating nursing student, was robbed and killed by two robbers in Capitol Site last March 6.
Four days after the incident, the police arrested Aivan Barabat and Mark Anthony Labitan Gabriel, who confessed their involvement in the crime. They are now charged formally in the court.
In a two-page resolution, the IBP, which is headed by lawyer Briccio Joseph Boholst, commended CIIB chief Police Senior Inspector George Ylanan, SPO1 Filomeno Mendaros, PO3 Jonas Tahanlangit, PO2 Edward Rabatayo, PO1 Philip Plasus, PO1 Esmeraldo Quillosa and PO1 Milberto Yosores for the arrest of the suspects.
“The arresting peace officers deserve the sincere appreciation from Cebuanos, particularly from the IBP-Cebu City Chapter, which has always denounced all forms of lawlessness and violence in our society,” said the IBP resolution. — Garry B. Lao/LPM
