Movement vs. Arrogante’s killing sets rally this week
The Justice for Gogong Movement, which was formed Monday evening, will spearhead a rally in Daanbantayan town this week to condemn the killing of businessman-turned-politician Renerio “Gogong” Arrogante last Sunday.
Sonny Luche, spokesman of the group, said in a statement that they will be asking the authorities to fast track the investigation and bring behind bars those involved in the slay of Arrogante.
The movement is composed mostly of Arrogante’s friends who are retired government officials, businessmen, civic group members, and representatives of the youth sector, Luche said.
"The group decided to closely monitor the development of the case and the actions undertaken by the investigators of the killing,” he added.
He also said that some of Arrogante’s friends who are both retired and active in the police and military service have offered their assistance to the group.
Meanwhile, Senior Supt. Vicente Loot who heads the Regional Human Resource Division of the Police Regional Office-7 strongly denied accusations that his family is behind Arrogante’s killing.
Loot said he would file a libel case against anybody who will implicate his family in the incident.
Sr. Supt. Carmelo Valmoria said the Cebu Provincial Police Office has already expressed readiness to provide security for the family of Arrogante.
Valmoria told reporters yesterday that if there is a formal request from the Arrogante family for security, he would immediately send them policemen.
