Gabaldon buildings in 10 Borbon schools restored

The Cebu provincial government announced the completion of the restoration works on classroom buildings in 10 public schools of Borbon town.  The project worth P30 million was done in cooperation with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is grateful to RAFI for giving importance to the educational needs of Cebuano children.

“I am thankful that here in Cebu, people are beginning to look at the fruits of cooperation that go beyond mere photo opportunities,” she said.

The governor also promised students that aside from giving priority to the rehabilitation of school buildings, her administration will continue to hand out free school supplies.

The Gabaldon buildings are restored to help remind Cebuanos of Assemblyman Isauro Gabaldon who became a senator in 1907.

The assemblyman was responsible for passing the Gabaldon Act of 1909 for the construction of schools in each town of the country. With the passage of the law, funds were allocated for the construction of school buildings all over the country.  The construction was maintained by the provincial and insular governments.

The Gabaldon buildings are found in public schools nationwide, distinct for a single design and structure.  Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/MEEV
