Students robbed in PUJ
Four students were robbed by two men armed with fan knives inside a passenger jeepney last Wednesday evening.
The victims, Ryan de Guzman, 22, of barangay Pardo, Cebu City; Rosemarie Luang, 26, of V. Rama Ave. barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City; Irene Villanueva, 20, of Camia Street of barangay Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna and Marvia Victoria Miego, 22, of Los Baños, Laguna, lost cash and valuables to two unidentified robbers.
Police said, the victims were on board a jeepney headed for Talamban from the downtown area when two of their fellow passengers declared a hold-up upon reaching the corner of Echavez and Lorega streets in barangay Zapatera.
The four did not resist as the robbers were armed with fan knives and started divesting them of their cellphones, bags and wallets.
The police said the four cellphones were worth P40,000 while the wallets taken contained a total of P6,500 as well as their identification cards, ATM cards and important documents. The robbers also took the victims’ two digital cameras worth P15,000 and P20,000 respectively.
After the robbery, the robbers immediately disembarked and ran towards the interior portion of barangay Lorega-San Miguel. — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
