2 road accidents hurt boy, woman

 A bus on its way to the poblacion of Dumanjug hit and injured a 10-year-old boy who crossed the national highway to escape from a chasing dog along barangay Tangil of the town Friday noon.

The boy, a Grade 4 pupil of Tangil Elementary School, sustained injuries to his left leg and body, and was rushed to the Barili District Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

The driver of the Allan Transit bus, 44-year-old Domingo Malang of Samboan, surrendered himself to the Dumanjug Police Station soon after the incident.

Witnesses’ accounts, according to police investigator PO1 Christopher Barro, said the boy just suddenly came out of the roadside and crossed the highway. The driver tried to maneuver the bus to avoid hitting the boy but failed.

Malang was detained for a few hours but was later released after he got an amicable settlement with the boy’s parents. 

Meanwhile, a Ceres bus hit and injured a woman on a bicycle along the national highway in barangay Guiwang in Minglanilla Friday evening.

Police reported that the victim, Eva Mae Lebosada, sustained injuries to her body and was taken to the Don Vicente Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

The bus driver, 45-year-old Alfredo Dumdum, said he did not saw Lebosada on her bicycle at the time. He was detained at the Minglanilla Police Station stockade. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
