Nominations now open for 4th Triennial Awards

-

Nominations for the Exemplary Individual and Outstanding Institution in the Visayas and Mindanao categories of the 4th Triennial Awards initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. have officially been opened.

The winner in the Outstanding Institution category will follow in the footsteps of retired judge Esperanza Fiel Garcia, mother of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, for the Cebu Court-of-First-Instance Community Cooperative that she founded. CFI was recipient of the Eduardo Aboitiz Award for outstanding institution during the 2nd Triennial Awards.

Individual achievement is also recognized under the Ramon Aboitiz Award for Exemplary Individual. In the past three Triennial Awards, winners in this category were all from Mindanao.

According to RAFI, the Triennial Awards was established “to recognize and encourage works of individuals and institutions in the areas of health, education and the environment that greatly reflect the humanitarian and holistic ideals of Cebuano philanthropists Dons Ramon and Eduardo Aboitiz.

“We want to sustain this avenue that inspires others to make a difference,” Mikel Aboitiz, a member of the RAFI executive committee said. Nominations will close by end of next month. The Triennial Awards is different from any other awards as it entails a long process of selection.

Awarding is slated on March 2009. Winners will receive cash and trophy. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
