Guard’s gun goes off, two civilians wounded

-

A security guard accidentally shot and wounded two persons while he was placing himself on alert for the arrival of an armored car in a bank at the corner of P. del Rosario and Junquera streets yesterday morning.

Feli Estrera, a security guard of Dasia Security Agency and detailed at Postal Bank, surrendered himself to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office a few hours after the incident.

Estrera said he was loading his shotgun when it went off, hitting Romeo Alferez, 43, of Guindarohan, Minglanilla town and Carena Marva Amadeo, 19, of sitio Sindulan, barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, who were just waiting for a ride nearby.

Alferez sustained wounds to his abdomen while Amadeo was injured in her left elbow, right hand and left thigh.  All injuries were considered non- threatening.

The victims were immediately brought at the Cebu City Medical Center for medical attention but were treated as outpatients.  The security guard is now under the custody of the police for further investigation and possible filing of appropriate charges.   Garry B. Lao/BRP
