Man brutally killed at roadside; jealous husband stabs driver

-

A man was found dead at the roadside in sitio Cabi-isan, barangay Taytay, Badian last Saturday with at least 11 stab wounds on the chest and stomach, and a smashed face.

Police identified the victim as Concordio Yuson, 50, a native of Bogo City but a resident of said place where his common-law wife came from.

According to the Badian police, the body was discovered by one Dioscoro Entorum, another resident of the barangay. Entorum was passing by the area when the beam of his motorcycle’s headlights spotted the victim’s body.

Entorum immediately informed barangay officials and the police who said that the victim could have been stabbed first and was smashed with a rock in the face.

Police have yet to identify the perpetrator and the motive of the killing. But they are still verifying on reports that the victim was a “troublemaker” in the area, often challenging anybody in the neighborhood to a fight every time he gets drunk.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-for-hire driver was stabbed by his passenger who got jealous over the way his wife had reportedly hugged the driver while they were onboard the vehicle last Saturday afternoon heading for sitio Gaway-gaway, barangay Tigbao, Badian.

Police identified the victim as Orlando Villegas, 22, a resident of barangay Mali-ao of said town. The suspect was identified as Ritchie Cabalay, 27, a resident of sitio Gaway-gaway.

PO1 Euberto Alcazarem said that Villegas was ferrying Cabalay and his wife to the couple’s house in Tigbao when the suspect reportedly noticed that his wife who was seated in between him and Villegas was hugging the driver’s body too tight.

Adding to the insult, the victim reportedly only asked for the suspect’s fare and not that of Cabalay’s wife. The suspect got irked and immediately jumped off the motorcycle, stormed into the house and came back with a knife.

Cabalay then allegedly stabbed Villegas in the left forearm. But Villegas was able to avoid more thrusts and managed to run for safety.

The suspect who tried to escape was later arrested after the police cornered him inside a tennis court in the barangay. Villegas was rushed to the Badian District Hospital. — Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
