Garcias, Yaphas mend differences

-

After more than a decade, the Garcias and Yaphas of the third district are now mending their differences.

Last February 2, Pinamungajan Mayor Geraldine Yapha and her brother, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Yapha, welcomed Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and her brother, third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia, during the governor’s inspection of road and electrification projects in the town.

Mayor Yapha said the programs and projects that the provincial government is extending to her town are something unforgettable because they allow both parties to meet for the welfare of the people.

Vice Mayor Yapha was reportedly surprised upon learning from his sister that the Garcias were coming to their town.

The town officials’ father, former third district Rep. Antonio Yapha, lost to Governor Garcia during her reelection bid in the May elections last year. Pablo John also defeated their mother, Estrella, in the congressional race.

For her part, the governor said the past is already over and it’s time for them to face the bigger challenges ahead in their effort to provide basic services to the people.

The town officials said they are now looking forward for more Capitol projects in their municipality.

“I am thankful as this is a sign of cooperation, and if we continually to do so, we can achieve more,” Mayor Yapha said. – Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/LPM
