UC donates P5M to Cebu Maternity

The University of Cebu has donated P5 million to the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House along B. Rodriguez Street for its building expansion in a move to accommodate more patients and live up to the mission of quality service for the child-bearing, child-rearing women it is serving.

UC president Augusto Go handed over to the hospital administrator yesterday the check worth P5 million for the development plan to construct two additional delivery rooms, another operating room, a recovery room, a critical obstetric unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and for the improvement of laboratory services.

Works on said expansion program is to be completed in 2010.

UC has been the partner school of the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House that serves as training ground for UC’s student nurses and medical school interns. The hospital celebrated its 85th anniversary recently.

It is one of the pioneering hospitals that focus on the safe delivery and wellness of babies serving more than 400 child-bearing women every month. It boasts of well-equipped hospital and laboratory facilities, fully equipped delivery rooms, baby-friendly nursery and clean, well-ventilated wards.  Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
