A man broke into a cellular phone and television shop in barangay Looc, Santander last Friday and run away with several thousands of cash and a bank passbook.
Businessman Roland Companero reported to the Santander Police Station that his shop located near his residence was burglarized. Companero, 36, was in Cebu City when the incident took place.
He told the police that when he arrived at his shop at about 5:00 p.m., he noticed that the padlock and the doorknob were already destroyed.
Companero said his cash amounting to P22,700 and his bank passbook, which was placed under his component, were taken by burglar.
At least seven television sets and a component were damaged. These include two Kolin TV units amounting to P14,600; a LG TV set, (P8,000); a Gold Star TV set, (P6,700); a Daewoo TV unit, (P6,800); a 21-inch Sharp TV set, (P7,600); and a Sony component amounting to P18,000.
A laptop amounting to P18,000 and a Promac video compact disc player amounting to P1,800 were also damaged.
Barangay tanods Juvelino Buscato and Segundino Bulburan said they saw a certain Freddie Jugo hurriedly coming out from the shop and left on board a motorcycle.
But when PO3 Welther Grapa and PO1 Dionilo Lapera went to the house of Jugo, the suspect was no longer around.
Companero is convinced that Jugo was behind the burglary, saying that he would file appropriate charges against the suspect. – Garry B. Lao/LPM
